The Furoshiki Workshop: Natural Dyes and Japanese Gift Wrapping

Two beautiful skills compliment each other in this new workshop: learn the ancient art of Japanese gift wrapping and the Shibori stitching techniques of Nui and Mokume. You’ll stitch three large organic cotton bandanas with intricate Shibori patterns, then dye them using natural dyes made from ground plants and iron to produce three unique colors. As the fabric simmers in the dye bath, we’ll explore traditional Japanese gift wrapping methods.

This workshop is hosted by our friends at Piano Nobile. No prior experience required! We’ll provide all the materials, so all you need to bring is your creativity.
